Job Role: Youth Worker (Learning Support Assistant)

Location: Birmingham, UK

Start Date: Immediate Start 

Salary: £415 - £445/ week

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Youth Worker to work as a Learning Support Assistant within a specialist SEN provision. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with diverse learning needs. You will play a vital role in providing support and encouragement to students with special educational needs, helping them achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, including those with learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, and other complex needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies tailored to the unique needs of each student.
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum, participating in classroom activities, and developing essential skills for learning and independence.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their social and emotional well-being through empathy, encouragement, and effective communication.
  • Work with teaching staff and other professionals to assess student progress.
  • Supporting delivery of educational and enrichment activities that promote students' personal growth, creativity, and self-expression.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior incidents, and any other relevant information in accordance with school policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting the holistic development of young people with diverse needs.
  • An understanding of different learning styles and the ability to adapt support strategies accordingly.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in SEN education and safeguarding.

Must have:

  • have or willing to apply for an Enhanced Child DBS

  • availability to work Monday - Friday/ 8:30AM - 3:30PM
