Location: Bootle, Liverpool
Contract: Full-time (term-time only)

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school based in the Bootle area of Liverpool. The school is seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Unqualified Teaching Assistant to join its friendly and supportive team. The successful candidate will work alongside class teachers to support pupils’ learning, development, and overall wellbeing.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to begin or progress a career in education and gain valuable classroom experience.


  • Support teaching and learning within the classroom, including:
    • Assisting with lesson preparation and delivery
    • Working with pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, including those with additional needs
    • Preparing classroom resources, displays, and materials
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage strong social interactions
  • Support pupils with core skills such as reading, writing, and numeracy
  • Supervise pupils during break and lunchtime as required
  • Provide general administrative support, including photocopying, filing, and record-keeping
  • Help develop pupils’ confidence, social skills, and emotional wellbeing
  • Provide pastoral support, general welfare assistance, and basic first aid (training provided)

Essential Criteria

  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE grade 4/C in English and Maths, or equivalent)
  • Willingness to learn, take feedback, and participate in training
  • A patient, caring, and positive approach

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience working with children (paid or voluntary), e.g. in schools, nurseries, after-school clubs, or youth settings
  • A basic understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
