Are you passionate about working with children and young people and looking for an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a school setting?

We are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants and Cover Supervisors to work across Secondary schools throughout Cardiff and Caerphilly.

Whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant, a recent graduate, considering a PGCE or teaching career, or looking to transfer your experience from another sector, we can offer opportunities to suit your skills and career goals.

One of the benefits of joining us as a Teaching Assistant is the opportunity to develop your skills and progress into Cover Supervisor work.

For suitable candidates, we provide support and training to help you build the confidence and classroom management skills needed to lead lessons and take the next step in your education career.

This is an excellent opportunity if you are looking to gain practical classroom experience before pursuing teacher training or develop a long-term career working in education.

As a Teaching Assistant, you may be responsible for:

  • Supporting pupils with classroom activities and learning
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support
  • Supporting teachers with lesson activities
  • Working with pupils with SEN and additional learning needs
  • Supporting positive behaviour and engagement
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive and encouraging learning environment
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and school staff

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher
  • Deliver pre-prepared lessons and learning activities
  • Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment
  • Manage behaviour in line with school policies and procedures
  • Keep pupils engaged and focused on their work
  • Provide appropriate feedback to teaching staff
  • Ensure pupils remain safe and follow school expectations

Previous Cover Supervisor experience is beneficial, but training and progression opportunities are available for suitable Teaching Assistants.

You do not necessarily need previous school experience. We are looking for people who are:

  • Reliable, professional and committed
  • Confident communicating with children and young people
  • Patient, resilient and adaptable
  • Able to build positive relationships
  • Comfortable working as part of a school team
  • Passionate about supporting pupils and their education
