Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine and lasting impact on young people's lives?

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in Bury, supporting students aged 11-16 with autism and social, language and communication needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a nurturing and highly supportive environment where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential.

✅ Provide tailored classroom support to students throughout lessons and the wider school day

✅ Support students in developing their communication, social interaction and independence skills

✅ Assist with learning activities, helping students engage positively with the curriculum

✅ Support emotional regulation and encourage positive participation in learning

✅ Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and specialist staff to deliver individualised support

✅ Help implement strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)

✅ Promote positive behaviour through consistent routines, structure and therapeutic approaches

✅ Foster students' confidence, self-esteem and resilience both academically and personally

✅ Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive

✔ Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or within a school setting is essential

✔ Experience supporting students with SEND, autism, speech and language difficulties, or communication needs is highly desirable

✔ A patient, resilient and nurturing approach to supporting young people

✔ Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues

✔ The ability to remain calm, adaptable and proactive in a dynamic school environment

✔ A genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve success

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
