Teaching Personnel are currently working with a supportive secondary school in Dorchester who are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This role would be ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people and is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning. You will provide valuable support to both teachers and pupils, helping to create an engaging classroom environment where all students are encouraged to make progress and achieve their potential.

The successful Teaching Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Providing classroom support to students across KS3 and KS4.

  • Delivering 1:1 and small-group support where appropriate.

  • Assisting pupils who require additional support with their learning.

  • Helping students remain focused, engaged and motivated during lessons.

  • Supporting teachers with classroom activities and learning resources.

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and helping maintain a calm learning environment.

  • Building strong and trusting relationships with students.

  • Supporting the wider pastoral and academic needs of pupils.

Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Mentor or within a school environment would be beneficial. Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional needs would also be advantageous, but is not essential.
