Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a SEN teaching assistant to join our client, a mainstream secondary school in Oldham. It is a full-time position starting ASAP, on a probationary basis until the end of the academic year, to become a permanent role in September 2024.

You will be working 1:1 with students with varying needs, supporting in classes to keep them on task, and supporting the class teacher with behaviour management. Previous experience working with children with SEN would be desirable, however not mandatory as full training will be provided.

The role:

  • Liaising with the school’s SENCO and other members of staff to produce individual targets and support plans to pupils.
  • Encouraging the participation of pupils both socially and academically
  • Facilitating children’s cognitive development by removing barriers to learning tailored to each students needs

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or individuals with Special Educational Needs
  • Patient and kind demeanour
  • Passion for helping others
  • Obtain an enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to apply for one
