Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant with expertise in supporting students with autism and other mental health challenges. In this role, you will join our team of passionate educators to provide tailored care, guidance, and assistance to vulnerable children and adolescents.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Support: Deliver personalized one-on-one or small group support to students with SEMH needs, including those with autism.
Mental Health Support: Implement strategies and interventions to promote students' emotional and mental well-being.
Academic Assistance: Assist students in accessing and engaging with the curriculum, adapting teaching materials as necessary, and tracking their progress.
Behavioral Management: Employ effective behavior management techniques to create a positive and structured learning environment.
Communication: Maintain open and transparent communication with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure consistent support and progress monitoring.
Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of student progress and behavior to inform planning and intervention strategies.
Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in SEMH education through ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum of a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or its equivalent.
Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable children and adolescents, particularly those with autism and mental health challenges.
Strong grasp of SEMH and effective behavior management strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
Compassion, patience, and empathy when addressing students' emotional needs.
Familiarity with the unique challenges faced by students in PRU settings is desirable.
Additional relevant qualifications or certifications will be advantageous.
