Are you an experienced SEND professional looking for flexible work that allows you to choose when and where you work?

Teaching Personnel is recruiting Specialist Teaching Assistants to provide part-time supply cover across a range of specialist educational provisions in the Street area.

These settings cater for pupils with a variety of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, speech and language difficulties, learning disabilities and complex communication requirements.

For further information about this opportunity and other specialist education vacancies, call 01202 558848 and ask for Himaya!

This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in varied environments and enjoy supporting learners with diverse needs. As these are ad-hoc supply opportunities, we require professionals who can quickly adapt to new settings, build positive relationships and deliver high-quality support from the moment they arrive.

No two placements will be the same. One day you may be providing one-to-one support, while the next could involve assisting a small group of learners or supporting classroom activities across different age ranges.

  • Delivering tailored support to pupils with additional needs
  • Assisting with individual learning programmes
  • Encouraging participation and engagement during lessons
  • Supporting communication and social development
  • Promoting independence and confidence
  • Helping implement behaviour support strategies
  • Working collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams
  • Assisting with sensory and therapeutic activities
  • Supporting learners during breaktimes and transitions
  • Contributing to a safe, structured and positive environment

To succeed in this role, you'll need to be confident, adaptable and experienced within education or support-based environments.

  • A minimum of 6 months' relevant experience
  • Previous exposure to SEND or SEMH settings
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A calm and professional approach
  • The ability to work independently when required
  • Strong teamwork and organisational abilities

Experience in schools, residential care, youth services, mentoring, support work or behavioural provisions would be highly beneficial.

Working through Teaching Personnel provides access to a wide range of benefits, including:

  • £14.25 per hour
  • Flexible part-time work to suit your availability
  • Opportunities across multiple specialist provisions
  • Weekly pay
  • Access to free CPD and SEND-focused training
  • Dedicated consultant support
  • Pension contributions
  • Long-term and permanent opportunities
  • Access to one of the UK's largest education networks

Whether you're looking to supplement existing work, gain exposure to different specialist settings or enjoy greater flexibility, this could be the perfect role for you.

September 2026 opportunities are available now, with the possibility of starting earlier.

If you're ready to join our specialist supply team, apply today or call 01202 558848 and ask for Himaya to discuss your experience, availability and preferred working pattern!
