SEND Learning Support Assistants – Kettering Area

Make a real difference to a child’s school day

We are looking for caring, patient and enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistants to support primary-aged pupils across schools in the Kettering area.

The pupils you will support may have autism, communication and interaction needs, speech and language difficulties, sensory needs and/or other additional needs. You will play an important role in helping children feel safe, understood and included, while supporting their learning, communication and independence.

The role may include:

• Providing 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with SEND

• Supporting children with autism and communication needs

• Helping pupils access learning and participate in classroom activities

• Using clear, consistent communication and visual strategies

• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour

• Developing pupils’ confidence, independence and social skills

• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals

• Providing a calm, nurturing and structured approach throughout the school day

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEND

• Has an understanding of autism and communication needs, or is keen to develop their knowledge

• Is patient, empathetic and consistent

• Can build positive relationships with children

• Is confident working as part of a wider school team

• Has a positive and inclusive approach to supporting children

• Is reliable, adaptable and committed to helping pupils reach their potential

Previous experience as an LSA, Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, support worker, youth worker or similar is welcomed. Relevant personal or voluntary experience may also be considered.
