SEND Teaching Assistant New

An Ofsted rated “good” school in Lostock are looking to recruit a hard-working, patient, and flexible SEND Teaching Assistant to support the pupils with their progress and general well-being. The schools main aim is to prepare their pupils for life beyond school, therefore the successful candidate must hold the pupil’s best interests in the highest regard.

This is a post initially for two terms with the potential to extend, beginning in January 2023.

Key responsibilities

  • Establishing a close, supportive relationship with the pupils to help them feel safe in school and enjoy their learning
  • Promoting independence and personal development, maintaining high expectations
  • Support the class teacher in the day to day running of the class
  • Working closely with small groups or providing 1 to 1 sessions to promote pupils social, emotional, behavioural, and physical development
  • Being able to deal effectively with a wide range of needs including ASC, ADHD and challenging behaviour, and adapt any tasks to the needs of the pupil to aid the smooth running of the school
  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within a team

Relevant skills/qualifications

  • A GCSE (or equivalent qualification) pass in Maths and English
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
  • Knowledge or experience of pupils with SEN or SEMH/ASD
  • Always maintain a positive and resilient attitude

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
