Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a caring, patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a school in Bournemouth.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, SEN professional, graduate or individual with relevant transferable experience who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs.

You will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to provide tailored support that enables pupils to engage with their learning, develop confidence and achieve their individual goals.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND
  • Supporting pupils with their academic, social and emotional development
  • Assisting with differentiated classroom activities
  • Supporting pupils with autism, communication difficulties and additional learning needs
  • Following individual learning plans and established routines
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and independence
  • Helping pupils develop confidence and essential life skills
  • Working closely with teachers and other support staff
  • Observing pupils and identifying changes in behaviour or engagement
  • Creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Patient, caring and understanding
  • Passionate about working with children with additional needs
  • Confident providing 1:1 support
  • Calm and consistent when managing challenging situations
  • A strong communicator and team player
  • Adaptable and willing to learn
  • Experienced in SEND, education, childcare, youth work or a related environment

Previous SEN experience is desirable but not essential, as transferable experience and the right attitude are equally valued.

Teaching Personnel works with schools throughout Bournemouth and the surrounding Dorset area, offering day-to-day, long-term and permanent opportunities.
