Full-Time Opportunity Through Teaching Personnel

Some young people need more than classroom support. They need patience, consistency, encouragement, and someone who believes in their potential, even on their most challenging days.

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in Middleton this September.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who thrives in a specialist setting and can confidently support pupils with a range of complex needs. No two days are the same, and every day presents an opportunity to help a young person develop life skills, build confidence, and overcome barriers to learning.

If you're calm under pressure, proactive in your approach, and passionate about helping vulnerable young people succeed, we'd love to hear from you.

This well-established specialist secondary school provides tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Complex Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (CLDD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Communication and interaction difficulties
  • Sensory processing difficulties

The school offers a structured, nurturing, and highly supportive learning environment where each pupil receives individualised support designed around their unique needs and goals.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both academically and personally.

You will help young people access learning, regulate their emotions, develop independence, and navigate challenges that can sometimes feel overwhelming. Many pupils require support that is highly personalised, meaning you'll need to think on your feet, adapt to changing situations, and build strong, trusting relationships.

You will also work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support professionals to ensure every pupil receives consistent and effective support throughout the school day.

This role requires someone who can confidently use their own initiative, remain composed during challenging situations, and provide a positive and reassuring presence for pupils who depend on routine, structure, and trusted adults.
