Supply Desk is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive educational setting in Southampton from September 2026.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for someone passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs.

You will be working closely with pupils across both specialist and mainstream environments, supporting learners with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and a range of additional learning difficulties.

The role requires patience, adaptability, and a nurturing approach to help pupils access learning and develop confidence both academically and socially.


  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs

  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies

  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and social development

  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals

  • Adapt learning materials to meet individual pupil needs

  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

  • Encourage independence and engagement in classroom activities


  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (ASC, ADHD, SEMH desirable)

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils

  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent) are desirable but not essential

  • A valid enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
