Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming specialist education setting in the Devizes area.

Beginning in September 2026, with flexibility for an earlier start, this full-time position offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people with additional learning needs.

We are searching for someone who already has experience supporting pupils within an SEN environment and who can confidently step into the classroom from day one.

Working alongside teachers and a wider multidisciplinary team, you'll provide tailored support that encourages engagement, independence and personal development.

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group classroom support.
  • Assisting with personalised learning programmes.
  • Encouraging positive communication and social interaction.
  • Supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Implementing behaviour support strategies consistently.
  • Preparing learning resources and adapting classroom activities.
  • Monitoring pupil engagement and contributing to progress records.
  • Promoting a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families where appropriate.
  • Previous experience working within SEN or specialist education.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Confidence managing challenging situations positively.
  • The ability to build meaningful relationships with pupils.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to contribute across the school community.
  • The confidence to hit the ground running with minimal guidance.
