SEN Teaching Assistant

Overview:

Teaching Personnel are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream secondary school in the Chorlton area of Manchester. This is an immediate start opportunity, with the role continuing into the new academic year from September.

The successful candidate will work closely with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing tailored support to help them access the curriculum, develop their confidence, and achieve their full potential. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about making a positive impact on young people's educational journeys.

Duties:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with a range of Special Educational Needs.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Support students with their academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
• Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual student needs.
• Encourage student participation, independence, and confidence within the classroom.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Help maintain a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment.
• Liaise effectively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals where required.

Qualifications/ Experience:

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable.
• Experience within a secondary school setting is advantageous but not essential.
• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting young people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, Psychology, or related fields are beneficial.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel.
