We are currently working with a number of welcoming and well-resourced secondary schools across the Oldham area who are looking to appoint enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants. These roles are available on a full-time, part-time and permanent basis, with immediate starts as well as opportunities confirmed for September, making this an ideal time to secure your next position in education.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students aged 11–16 who have a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties. You will be working closely with teaching staff to ensure students can access the curriculum, whether that’s through one-to-one support, small group work, or in-class assistance. The role requires someone who is patient, reliable and able to build strong, trusting relationships with young people, helping them to stay engaged, manage behaviour positively and develop confidence both socially and academically.
Schools are keen to speak with individuals who have previous experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, particularly within a secondary setting. However, candidates from care, youth work, coaching or support-based roles with transferable skills are also encouraged to apply. A calm and proactive approach is essential, along with the ability to adapt quickly and respond to the varying needs of students throughout the school day.
These positions offer the opportunity to join supportive school communities where inclusion is a priority and staff are valued. Many of the roles have the potential to become permanent, providing a clear pathway for those looking to establish a long-term career within education. You will also benefit from ongoing professional development and the chance to gain further experience working alongside experienced SEN professionals and teaching staff.
In return, you can expect competitive rates of pay, consistent work and a rewarding role where you can genuinely make a difference in the lives of young people. Flexible working options are available across different schools in Oldham, allowing you to find a role that suits your availability and career goals.
If you are passionate about supporting students with additional needs and are ready to take the next step in your career, we would love to hear from you. Apply today to be considered for immediate interviews and upcoming September vacancies within our partner secondary schools.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
