Role Overview:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support and assistance to students with SEN, enabling them to access the curriculum, participate in school activities, and thrive academically and socially. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. One-to-One Support: Offering individualized support and guidance to students with SEN, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or other learning difficulties, to help them overcome challenges and achieve their educational goals.

  2. Classroom Assistance: Collaborating closely with teachers to implement personalized learning plans and accommodations for students with SEN, ensuring their inclusion and engagement in classroom activities and discussions.

  3. Behaviour Management: Supporting students in managing their behaviour and emotions, implementing positive behaviour strategies and interventions to promote a supportive and respectful learning environment for all students.

  4. Personalized Learning: Assisting students with SEN in accessing educational materials, adapting tasks and assignments to their individual needs and abilities, and providing additional support and clarification as required.

  5. Communication and Collaboration: Working closely with SENCOs, teachers, parents, and external professionals to share information, monitor progress, and develop targeted interventions and support strategies for students with SEN.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEN, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience in supporting students with diverse needs and abilities, demonstrating a compassionate and understanding approach.
  • Knowledge of SEN support strategies, interventions, and best practices, with a commitment to promoting inclusivity and equality in education.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of students and the school environment, prioritizing their well-being and success.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
