Exciting Opportunity: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are currently seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a reputable secondary school in Denton. With an Ofsted rating of 'Good', the school is dedicated to providing high-quality education and support to all students, including those with SEN.

Role Overview:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support and assistance to students with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum, participate fully in school life, and achieve their academic and personal goals. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Individualised Support: Providing one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, assisting them with classwork, activities, and assignments, and adapting teaching strategies to meet their individual learning needs.

  2. Behaviour Management: Implementing positive behaviour management techniques to support students in managing their emotions and behaviours, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.

  3. Personal Care: Assisting students with personal care tasks, such as toileting, dressing, and feeding, as required, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout the school day.

  4. Communication and Collaboration: Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to develop and implement personalised support plans for students with SEN, monitoring their progress and adjusting interventions as necessary.

  5. Emotional Support: Providing emotional support and encouragement to students with SEN, building positive relationships and fostering a sense of trust and security in their interactions with school staff.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEN, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of students and the school environment, prioritising student well-being and success.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and equality, ensuring that all students have equal access to educational opportunities and support.
