We have a great opportunity that has just emerged if you’re looking to get into Education Sector and love to work with children! We are working with a SEN school based in Darlington (DL1) that are seeking a Teaching Assistant to work alongside a SEN Teacher and small classes of children (KS1-KS4) with a multitude of Special needs.

The ideal candidate needs to be reliable, caring, friendly and responsible. We would preferably like you to have experience working in an SEN environment, however the school are happy to consider staff with experience in School settings and Alternative Provisions, Care backgrounds and those with experience of Health and Social Care qualifications.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide support under the direction and supervision of teaching staff to assist pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in school activities
  • Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress
  • Support the teacher in behaviour management and keeping pupils on task based on the expectations for individual pupils
  • Provide support for pupils with challenging behaviour taking account of support plans and risk assessments under the direct supervision of a teacher

A successful candidate must provide the following

  • Must hold a DBS an enhanced DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for one
  • Patient and Reliable
  • Experience working with people with SEN / Disabilities
  • Be confident supporting children and young people
  • Worked as a Care / Support worker

This role is available immediately and required until the end of the academic year with the potential of being extended. Due to the role being required on a long term basis, we are able to negotiate your daily rate on your behalf, starting from £10.77 per hour.
