Teaching personnel are working alongside a SEN Provision in Morpeth  are seeking a Primary Teaching Assistant to support students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities to develop their communication, independence and employability skills to make a successful transition.

You will be expected to work Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 15:30 with a 30 minute break.  

The ideal Candidate should have the relevant experience and must be passionate when caring for others and is confident when managing challenging behaviours

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide support under the direction and supervision of teaching staff to assist pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in school activities
  • Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress
  • Support the teacher in behaviour management and keeping pupils on task based on the expectations for individual pupils
  • Provide support for pupils with challenging behaviour taking account of support plans and risk assessments under the direct supervision of a teacher

A successful candidate must provide the following

  • Must an enhanced child and adult DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for one
  • Patient and Reliable
  • Experience working with people with SEN / Disabilities
  • Be confident supporting children and young people
  • Worked as a Care / Support worker

This role will be available in September and required until the end of the academic year with the potential of being extended. Due to the role being required on a long term basis, we are able to negotiate your daily rate on your behalf, starting from £11.87 per hour.
