SEN Teacher Assistant

Teaching Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a specialist education setting in Warminster for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a dedicated staff team supporting secondary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs.

Every day is different, and you'll play a key role in helping young people develop academically, socially and emotionally within a structured, nurturing environment.

We are looking for someone who already has experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and who is confident enough to hit the ground running from the beginning of the new academic year.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide high-quality support both inside and outside the classroom.

• Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
• Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning activities.
• Helping students remain engaged, focused and motivated throughout the school day.
• Encouraging independence while providing appropriate levels of support.
• Promoting positive behaviour through consistency and relationship building.
• Supporting pupils with communication, emotional regulation and social development.
• Assisting with classroom preparation and learning resources.
• Recording observations and contributing to pupil progress.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and wider school staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for every learner.

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Experience working with pupils with autism, SEMH, learning difficulties or complex needs.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A proactive attitude and the ability to use initiative.
• An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
• The confidence to begin work in September 2026 with minimal supervision.

Experience within a specialist school, alternative provision, residential setting or similar environment would be highly desirable.
