A secondary school in Chorley require a Support Assistant to support a child with behavioural issues. 

The role will start in September and run until July 2024 initially, with the potential to extend dependant on performance and the progress made with the child.

This is a Support Assistant role with a strong focus on providing support to pupils who struggle to engage within mainstream classes and are at risk of exclusion.

  • Full time behaviour Support Assistant opportunity from April 2024
  • Working within a large, Ofsted rated ‘good’ Secondary school with over 700 pupils
  • Earn from £12.82 per hour and above

The successful applicant will hold a range of responsibilities including supporting teaching and learning across the school, provide general support to teachers within lessons and deliver resources and 1-1 sessions with a child who struggles in class.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a secondary school capacity, although any experience working with children in youth work or sports coaching roles is also favourable. You will need to demonstrate excellent relationship building and behavioural management skills.

  • Must have worked within secondary education/have transferable skills related to supporting pupils aged 11-16
  • Be confident and able to adapt to support pupils within all subject areas
  • Be able to build positive working relationships with pupils who display challenging behaviour and help them engage within lessons
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with special educational needs is advantageous but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
