Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs to thrive both emotionally and academically?

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Nurture Practitioner to join our dedicated team at a specialist secondary SEN school in Tameside. This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs.

As a Nurture Practitioner, you will play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. You will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where pupils feel understood, valued, and able to achieve their potential.

Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, therapists, and families, you will provide tailored emotional and behavioural support to students aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs including:

  • SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Trauma-related behaviours
  • Communication and interaction difficulties

No two days are the same - this role is ideal for someone who is adaptable, emotionally intelligent, and passionate about inclusive education.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students
  • Provide emotional regulation and behavioural support
  • Support pupils during lessons, interventions, and unstructured times
  • Deliver nurture-based and therapeutic interventions
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies and restorative approaches
  • Support students with emotional wellbeing and social development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents/carers
  • Help create personalised support strategies for individual students
  • Maintain accurate records and safeguarding documentation
  • Support students during challenging situations with patience and professionalism

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH needs
  • Is calm, empathetic, and resilient under pressure
  • Can build strong professional relationships with vulnerable young people
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Understands trauma-informed practice and nurture approaches
  • Is confident managing challenging behaviour positively and safely
