Teaching Personnel is recruiting Psychology graduates for Teaching Assistant and Learning Support roles across Durham secondary schools from September 2026. Whether you're considering educational psychology, teacher training, SEND, or a broader career in education, these placements give you the practical, hands-on experience that underpins all of it.

What the role involves:

  • Supporting students across KS3 and KS4 on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assisting teachers with classroom management and differentiated delivery
  • Working with students with SEND, SEMH, and complex needs
  • Contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Liaising with the SENCO and wider support team as required

What we're looking for:

  • A degree in Psychology or a related discipline
  • Genuine enthusiasm for working with young people
  • Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach
  • Any experience working with children or young people is advantageous
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
