Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant - Full-Time Position

An Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme is seeking a motivated and compassionate Psychology Graduate to join their team as a Teaching Assistant. This full-time position is ideal for recent graduates who are passionate about psychology and are looking to gain hands-on experience in a school environment. The role begins in October and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent position based on performance.

• Student Support: Work closely with students, particularly those with special educational needs or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, providing them with tailored support to help them succeed academically and personally.
• One-to-One and Small Group Interventions: Lead and support targeted interventions designed to improve students' emotional well-being, social skills, and academic progress.
• Classroom Assistance: Collaborate with teachers to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment, assisting with lesson delivery and classroom management.
• Progress Monitoring: Track the development of students, providing feedback to teaching staff and contributing to the creation of individualized education plans (IEPs) where necessary.
• Behavioral Support: Assist in managing student behavior, using psychological principles to help students develop positive coping strategies and resilience.
• Promoting Positive Mental Health: Encourage a school culture that prioritizes mental health, supporting initiatives and activities that foster well-being among students and staff.

• Degree in Psychology: A strong academic background in Psychology or a related discipline, with a particular interest in educational psychology, child development, or mental health.
• Empathy and Patience: A caring and patient approach to working with young people, particularly those facing challenges.
• Strong Communication Skills: The ability to build rapport with students and staff, and to communicate effectively in a school setting.
• Adaptability: Flexibility in responding to the varying needs of students and the ability to work effectively within a team.
