Teaching Personnel is working with a number of supportive secondary schools across Gateshead to recruit enthusiastic Maths Graduate Teaching Assistants for September 2026. Whether your goal is to become a qualified teacher or simply gain hands-on experience in education, this role provides the perfect foundation.

This is far more than a classroom support position-it's an opportunity to build confidence, develop professional skills, and positively influence students during a crucial stage of their education.

You'll work alongside experienced teachers, receive ongoing mentoring, and gain practical experience that will strengthen future applications for teacher training, postgraduate study, or careers within education.

  • Deliver engaging one-to-one and small-group Maths interventions that help students build confidence and improve attainment.
  • Support classroom learning by working closely with experienced teachers.
  • Encourage students to develop problem-solving, reasoning, and analytical thinking skills.
  • Provide tailored support for pupils with additional needs, including SEN and SEMH.
  • Build positive relationships that motivate students to engage with learning.
  • Celebrate progress and help students overcome barriers to achievement.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment where every student can thrive.
