We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Chorley, supporting pupils across both primary and secondary age ranges. This is a full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity for the right candidate, with an immediate start available.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who present social, emotional and mental health needs, including challenging behaviour. You will support learning both inside and outside the classroom, helping students to regulate emotions, engage in education and build positive relationships.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Support pupils exhibiting challenging behaviour, using positive behaviour strategies
  • Assist with the delivery of differentiated lessons across primary and secondary
  • Promote emotional regulation, social skills and positive learning behaviours
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals
  • Maintain a calm, consistent and supportive approach at all times
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, SEND or trauma
  • Confident managing challenging behaviour in a structured and supportive manner
  • Patient, resilient, empathetic and emotionally intelligent
  • Able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Experience in schools, PRUs, care, youth work or similar settings is highly desirable
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are beneficial but not essential
