Wirral – Teaching Assistant

Are you looking for a Secondary Teaching Assistant role supporting a pupils with additional needs

Do you live in Wallasey or within a commutable distance? Are you available 5 days per week?



Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit Teaching Assistants to work with pupils who have additional educational needs in a mainstream secondary school in Wallasey. The Pupils display learning difficulties and need 1:1 support, alongside their classroom lessons. They can sllo be part of smaller group work where they will need a Teaching assistant to work closely with them.


SEN Teaching Assistant – Responsibilities

  • To encourage the pupils to join in with all activities and to take a full and active part in school life
  • To prepare, modify and adapt resources and learning materials for the pupils as agreed with the class teacher and other professionals
  • To assist in resolving any behavioural, social and emotional difficulties which may arise
  • To encourage the pupils to develop a positive self image, and to develop confidence in their abilities and communication with others


You must have had solid experience working with children and/or young people in an education setting and be confident working with pupils with behavioural difficulties. A qualification in Team-Teach or a similar de-escalation qualification would be highly beneficial.  People with experience in Youth work, Social care and sport often do well in this role.

All candidates applying to jobs through Teaching Personnel must undertake or have undertaken an Enhanced Disclosure via the DBS - Full assistance provided (AGY). The DBS must also be on the update service and be checked on the child only workforce.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
