Role Overview:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the teaching and learning across various subjects within the school, working closely with experienced teachers to provide invaluable assistance to students and contribute to their academic and personal development. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Classroom Support: Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and interactive lessons, providing one-to-one support to students, and facilitating group activities to enhance learning and understanding across a range of subjects.

  2. Individualised Support: Providing targeted support to students who may require additional help with their learning, including those with special educational needs or those facing challenges in their academic progress, to ensure that all students receive the support they need to succeed.

  3. Resource Preparation: Collaborating with teaching staff to prepare and organise teaching materials, resources, and equipment for lessons, ensuring that all resources are readily available and tailored to the specific needs of students.

  4. Assessment and Feedback: Assisting teachers in assessing student progress, marking assignments and assessments, and providing constructive feedback to students to support their learning and development.

  5. Behaviour Management: Implementing positive behaviour management strategies within the classroom, promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment, and assisting with the maintenance of discipline and order among students.

  6. Extra-Curricular Activities: Supporting the delivery of extra-curricular activities, clubs, and initiatives to enrich the learning experience and promote the personal and social development of students outside of the classroom.

Requirements:

  • A degree qualification in any subject area with a strong academic background and a genuine interest in education and working with young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students, build positive relationships, and provide effective support and guidance in a classroom setting.
  • Adaptability, resilience, and a proactive attitude, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, take initiative, and respond positively to challenges and changing priorities.
  • A passion for making a positive impact in the lives of young people, with a commitment to promoting high standards of achievement, fostering a love of learning, and supporting the holistic development of students.
