Graduate Teaching Assistant - Secondary School – Hexham

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for university graduates across a number of subjects to join one of our client secondary schools in Hexham as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. This position will start after October half-term and is a full-time role. 

The pay for this position is between £385 and £450 per week, dependent on experience.

This position is highly important and will come will a lot of responsibility. The successful candidate will be working to support students who have additional educational requirements. You must be fully aware of Special Educational Needs (SEN), as well as Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), and the impact that this can have on a child’s behaviour. These behavioural traits include anti-social behaviour, anxiety, and a withdrawn attitude. You will be working with small groups of students or 1-to-1 to support them with their additional learning requirements and promote a learning experience which provides equal opportunities to all.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing 1-to-1 and small group support to students with diverse special educational needs and requirements. 
  • Supporting students with their Educational Healthcare Plans (EHCPs).
  • Building relationships with the students to be able to support them in their development.
  • Monitoring the progression of the pupils, being able to give feedback to the pupils, the teachers, and their parents.
  • Being aware of all safeguarding procedures and dealing with any situations that may arise.
