The Programme:
Teaching Personnel's Future Teachers programme offers graduates the chance to gain practical, paid school experience before starting a formal teacher training course such as a PGCE or SCITT. This is a fully supported, structured year-long placement within a high-performing secondary school in South Manchester.
School Environment:
You will be placed in a forward-thinking, inclusive 11-16 secondary school with strong values, a commitment to raising aspirations, and a dedicated professional development programme. Staff are supportive, and you'll be paired with an experienced teacher mentor to guide your progress.
What You'll Be Doing:
Supporting students in lessons across core subjects like English, maths and science
Working 1:1 or with small groups to close learning gaps and build confidence
Assisting with classroom management, resources and lesson preparation
Shadowing teachers, attending department meetings and CPD sessions
Developing a strong understanding of safeguarding, SEN, and curriculum expectations
Ideal Candidate:
Recent graduate (or final-year student) with a 2:2 or above in any discipline
Strong interest in a future teaching career - all subjects welcomed, especially STEM and English
Confident working with teenagers and able to engage positively with pupils
Resilient, proactive, and ready to take on new challenges
Keen to commit to a full academic year in a South Manchester secondary school
