The English department at the school are committed to developing a lifelong love of language and literature delivered within the context of their students and the world in which they live. Through the school’s choice of inclusive, challenging, and complex texts which enable the students to develop the skills necessary to respond critically to information both in an educational setting and in the wider world. The school builds confidence, independence and resilience giving learners the ability to articulate both orally and in writing.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience working with Key stage 3 and 4 pupils – this can include experience not in schools such as a youth mentor, instructor, club leaders etc.
• Display confident classroom management and behaviour strategies
• Good availability, being able to work under short notice
• Be resilient, reliable, and passionate about excelling within education with a real enthusiasm for inspiring pupils to engage with their learning and development
• Experience working with SEND Pupils is highly advantageous, but not necessary.
• The successful applicants will be confident and supportive with good interpersonal skills, and have an empathy with young people; ideally, previous experience in a role working with young people will be a considerable advantage.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
