Exciting Opportunity: Behaviour Mentor

Are you passionate about supporting students to overcome behavioural challenges and reach their full potential? Do you have the skills and empathy to make a positive impact in a school environment? If so, we have an excellent opportunity for you to join our team as a Behaviour Mentor at an Ofsted good secondary school in Denton.

Role Overview:

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a crucial role in providing targeted support and guidance to students who may be experiencing behavioural difficulties. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Behavioural Support: Working closely with students to identify the underlying causes of their behavioural challenges and develop personalised strategies and interventions to address them effectively.

  2. Mentoring and Coaching: Building positive relationships with students, offering mentorship, guidance, and encouragement to help them develop self-awareness, self-regulation, and positive coping mechanisms.

  3. Crisis Intervention: Responding to behavioural incidents and crises in a calm and professional manner, using de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution strategies to defuse tense situations and ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

  4. Collaboration: Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and other school staff to implement behaviour management plans, monitor student progress, and provide regular feedback and updates on student behaviour and engagement.

  5. Positive Reinforcement: Recognising and rewarding positive behaviour and achievements, implementing incentive schemes and rewards programs to motivate and incentivise students to make positive choices and contributions to the school community.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with behavioural challenges, in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students and establish positive relationships based on mutual respect and understanding.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience in supporting students facing behavioural difficulties, demonstrating a compassionate and non-judgmental approach.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and interventions, with the ability to implement and adapt strategies to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the diverse needs of students and the school environment, prioritising their well-being and success.
