Teaching Personnel is recruiting enthusiastic, caring and resilient Teaching Assistants to work within a highly inclusive secondary school environment, supporting pupils in both mainstream education and a specialist ALN provision.

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable experience within education while making a genuine difference to the lives of young people with a range of additional learning needs.

You will support pupils across mainstream classes as well as within a specialist provision designed for learners with complex additional learning needs.

The specialist provision supports young people aged 11-19 with:

• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
• Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
• Complex learning needs
• Communication difficulties
• Physical disabilities
• Sensory needs
• Medical needs

The provision provides a nurturing, highly supportive learning environment with excellent staffing ratios and specialist facilities focused on developing independence, communication, life skills and confidence. Pupils may access both specialist and mainstream learning opportunities depending on their individual needs.

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
• Encouraging engagement, confidence and independence
• Assisting pupils with learning activities across the curriculum
• Supporting communication and social development
• Implementing behaviour and learning support strategies
• Working alongside teachers, therapists and support staff
• Assisting with personal care where required
• Creating a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment

Desirable qualifications include:

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification
• Health & Social Care Qualification
• Childcare Qualification
• Psychology, Education or Care-Related Degree
• Manual Handling Training
• Team Teach or Behaviour Management Training
• Welsh Language Skills (Highly Desirable)
