1:1 Support Assistant

An SEN provision in Blackburn is seeking outstanding 1:1 Support Assistants who can provide support for their pupils, aged 8-16. The young people's needs vary and may include Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties, ADHD, SpLD, MLD and associated behavioural difficulties.
Your working day will involve supporting pupils in varying subjects across the curriculum. The school follows a mainstream school curriculum which is suitable for the pupils; differentiated to meet the individual needs of all the children within the class group. You will also assist with the development of social and emotional skills and encourage positive behaviours, relationships and outcomes.
You will join a highly skilled and supportive team of staff and a fantastic Senior Leadership Team who will guide you every step of the way. Class sizes are small, with learning led by a teacher and supported by an appropriate number of teaching assistants reflecting the individual needs and abilities of the group.
As this is a challenging environment you will ideally have experience in this sector and have worked with challenging individuals. This doesn’t necessarily have to be in a school setting and can be from care, residential, youth work, camp America, prisons, sports coaching etc! The school are open to various experience and try and recruit based on the unique skills a candidate can bring to the role, giving their pupils exposure to new experiences.
During the summer holidays, it is an excellent time to register with Teaching Personnel as we are on standby to assist with schools' staffing and recruitment requirements for the new academic year! This school in particular work in close partnership with Teaching Personnel and have appointed a number of staff on a temporary and permanent basis!

The pay for this role will vary between £10.77-£13.20 per hour dependent on experience and qualifications.
